Dishanta Gogoi was just 1 ½ kg at birth which was below average and was advised physiotherapy. Thorough assessment was done by the professionals at DPRC and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. He had no neck control and development in movements were not there. Physiotherapy treatment was immediately started on him and in less than a year, he gained control of his neck and movements like rolling, crawling and sitting were much improved. Now, along with Physiotherapy, a combined team approach of Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Special Education were also started for him as per need, for a period of five years. He has grown up to be a very co-operative and enthusiastic child who loves social gathering, music, drawing, blocks building, puzzles and is able to express his feelings and also understands things very well. At present, Dishant, now six, is able to speak properly and can remain focused in his task. Activities of daily living are no more a burden for his parents. Cerebral palsy could not stop him from walking, running, jumping and having fun. Dishant goes to a regular school in Bebinus Montessori House.
